Family Support Services

Children do not live in isolation.  At Best Friends of Neenah-Menasha, we can best meet the needs of children in our Community-Based Mentoring program by providing services to the people who most directly impact their lives - their families.  Families with children in the Community-Based Mentoring program or waiting to be matched on our Waiting List are eligible to receive financial support for enrichment opportunities, emergency aid and connections to community resources designed to strengthen the family unit.

Outreach Services:

Community Referrals – Team members are trained to identify family needs in order to connect with existing community resources.  Referrals for Christmas Giving programs, youth development opportunities, mental health screenings, job training and secondary education assistance are examples of family services mobilized in support of our families.

Family Activities – Best Friends offers family outings for those enrolled in Community-Based mentoring and families with children on the waiting list.  These sponsored events provide opportunities for family fun and bonding In addition, families receive monthly information regarding free community activities, seminars, trainings and events.

Financial Support – Additional resources and funds are available to families in crisis on a case-by-case basis.  Financial assistance is also available through the Helping Hands Fund, allowing children and families to experience a variety of enrichment opportunities.  In addition, The Single Parent, Take a Break Fund partially underwrites the cost of activities that provide a break from the demands of parenthood.
